The «Südflucht Graubünden» is an alpine cross route across the canton of Grisons. If you're super-fit, you can do it without relying on post buses and the RhB. Downhill, the focus is on fun over good, flowing single trails. You do need previous experience in alpine mountain biking for maximum fun, however. The «Südflucht Graubünden» Route is only partly suitable for beginners.
«Südflucht Graubünden» overview
Load your bike onto the post bus in Chur or take it on the RhB. Depending on your condition, you might want to ride from Tschiertschen to Arosa or you can also take the train directly to Arosa. From Arosa, ride to the Carmenna Hut, up to the Hörnli and then to the Urdenfürggli. Once you've made it to top, then it's a thousand metres downhill on a single trail to Lenzerheide, Alvaschein, and Tiefencastel. Load your bike again onto a post bus and let it take you to Savognin.

The reward? A fantastic, yet challenging single trail from this historic pass to Casaccia through the Bergell Valley to the picturesque mountain village of Promontogno. The post bus then takes us over the Maloja Pass to St Moritz. We then ride through the Stazerwald forest to our stop for the night in Pontresina.

After a lunch featuring regional specialities, we take the RhB on the Bernina and Albula lines back to Chur, where our luggage will be already waiting for us at the railway counter.
