Description

The Calanda is not just a beer, but also a prominent mountain in the vicinity of Chur. The high-altitude SAC hut is a popular destination there for mountainbikers.

From Haldenstein station, you pedal through the village centre of Haldenstein up to the ruins, then hook up with a forest path following over a long climb to the Calanda hut. There, you will have overcome 1520 metres of altitude all in one stroke. After taking a break at the hut, proceed on a singletrail and a bit of a climbing route to Neusäss. A further singletrail leads to Vazer Alp, from there go at a racing pace past the alpine settlement of Batänja to the Lichtenstein Ruins. The last few metres back to Haldenstein lead on an old castle path.
