While some are still out skitouring higher up in Davos, locals are getting out their bikes to start the season. This singletrail route in Davos is a classic that can be done early in the summer.
The tour starts at the Rinerhorn, if it’s opened for the season. A gentle climb will take you to Äbirügg where you’ll start the legendary descent into the Sertig Valley. The long trail declines slowly to the hamlet of Sertig, but offers pure mountain-biking fun. You finally come upon a singletrail that constantly goes up and down on the opposite side of the valley to Clavadel, which then joins the next trail just behind the Hochgebirgsklinik. As you ride through the forest, you’ll pass Davos and then head onto sign-posted mountain bike trail into the Dischma valley. Where the trail turns into a gravel road, switch over to the paved Dischma valley mountain road and ride several meters uphill. At the next opportunity, turn left and keep on climbing on a minor gravel road. The next singletrail descent starts with a right-hand serpentine. This technical trail to Büelen is interspersed with lots of roots and is a good chance to refresh your technique in spring. In Büelen, the route climbs a bit as the singletrail heads to the Bünda ski lift and then into the Flüela valley. At the bridge over the Flüela stream, switch to the other side, ride past the Bedra housing estate, and then follow the mountain road to a picnic site. This is where the brilliant final descent starts with a few tricky spots here and there, ending at the swanky Hotel Intercontinental at the edge of Davos.
