Far back in the Sertig Valley is an almost unknown Davos singletrail. The route from Bergün over the Ducanfurgga is one of the best and most beautiful you can ride in Central Grisons.
The tour starts in Filisur and passes along the sign-posted mountain bike route (90 Graubünden Bike) to Bergün. It’s easier, though, to catch the train in Filisur and spare yourself this particular climb. The ascent to Stugl starts immediately behind the station and from there to the Runsolas housing estate. The climb on the alpine road through the Val da Stugl is initially very steep, but increasingly becomes flatter. Once you hit the idyllic mountain valley, you might think you’ve been transported to somewhere in Alaska. Pine and larch forests punctuate the alpine meadows and an irrepressible mountain stream flows through it all. Meanwhile, you’ve started your climb onto a singletrail that’s quite easy at first, but it continues to get steeper and you’re going to need to push or carry your bike the last 400 metres up to Ducanfurgga. The scenery from the pass looks like something from the high Alps, like the singletrail down to the Ducan Valley. The super trail ends in Sertig, where you’ll start your journey back to Filisur. This will take you along the world-famous Landwasser Epic Trail (Alps Trail Davos). Ride the singletrail from Sertig to Äbirügg (Rinerhorn), staying on the high road to Hauderalp. After going downhill for a bit, the trail heads over to Monstein, and then climbs 200 metres to a world-class trail taking you to Jenisberg. Now head down to the Zügenschlucht canyon, eventually passing the Wiesen station and then following the Landwasser River to the Landwasser Viaduct. Once back on the main road, it’s an easy glide back to Filisur.
Option: Instead of returning to Filisur via Rinerhorn-Monstein-Wiesen, take the trail to Clavadel in Sertig, from there to Davos and take the train for the return journey to Filisur.
