The Duranna pass is one of the great mountain bike classics in Grisons, especially in combination with the Strela pass. The tour is also doable for less experienced singletrail riders and offers a wonderful mix of landscapes, trails, and culture.
From Davos, head out on the gravel roads to Schatzalp and then on to Strelaalp. The road then continues to become steeper as you climb to the Strela pass. This is where the first descent begins, taking you down a challenging singletrail to Sapün. From there, the descent continues on a gravel road down to Langwies, following by a long, pleasant ascent to the hamlet of Strassberg and then on to the idyllic Grünsee near the Duranna pass. An even more fun trail now takes you over the plateau and onto a minor gravel road down to Untersäss. Here you can choose to head down a rather rough singletrail: Slightly below Untersäss, head to the right and take a trail to the base station of the Schiferbahn. Take the gravel road to Serneuser Schwendi and then follow the rail line to Laret. Then there’s one final steep section until you reach the Wolfgang pass on the outskirts of Davos. Note: the route is fully signposted as Route 631 (Duranna Pass – Strela Pass).
