Description
Lej da Staz
Description

The lakes forming the Upper Engadine make up one of the most beautiful regions of the Alps – and one of the most attractive for mountain bikers. On the lake tour, you will follow the myriad, generally mild single trails and in so doing get to experience all of the beauty of the high valley.

The route starts quite suddenly behind Pontresina station, following the mountain up to the forest clearing at Staz and on to the idyllic Alp da Staz. The first exit is already located here, which leads to the edge of the forest at Sportbad Ova Verva in St Moritz Bad. And once again, an easier pace is possible here. The route leads to the Olympic ski jump, on past the small Zuppo Lake.  Later, you will pass the valley station for the Corvatsch rail lines and now begin to follow the sign-posted route of the Alpine route (number 1). This leads over the Alp Surlej and Alp Präsüra to Sils-Maria. Here the return journey begins. For this, follow the riverside path of Lake Silvaplana to Surlej, then ride up to Lej Nair and finally descend via Lej Marsch down to St Moritz Bad. You then follow along Lake St Moritz back towards Pontresina, and you will pass the Stazersee and reach the station of Punt Muragl Staz. You can get back to Pontresina by following the sign-posted mountain bike trail. By the way: On this tour you will pass no less than eight lakes!
