The Stelserberg high above Schiers offers the best starting point for various downhill runs into the Prättigau. One of the best is the version on the direct route down to Lunden.
In the Prättigau, a well-developed and often asphalted road leads to almost every hill, including the Stelserberg. Via Fajauna you drive from Schiers – past countless alpine meadows and magnificent farms – over 15 hairpin bends up to the village of Stels and on via Berggasthaus Mottis to the restaurant on the lake, where a short stop is well worthwhile. The innkeeper is considered one of the most amiable landlords of the Prättigau. It is only a short, steep ramp to the small Stelsersee. This is where the descent begins, which initially leads to Pardiela on singletrails and rough alpine paths. Now you follow the marked trail downhill, at the beginning it leads over a mountain road. When you reach a fork, you can follow the path to the left to another farm and then the following single trail into the Buchner Tobel. However, we stay on the top of the mountain and take the wonderful, sometimes quite tricky singletrail to Lunden. After a short stretch on the road, hunters with an insatiable amount of stamina follow the trail along the edge of the forest to Schiers – a fluid, technical and, with its many small ascents, an exhausting finish.
