The Ziteil Chapel is the highest altitude pilgrimage in Europe. But it is also an attractive goal for non-Catholic mountainbikers, especially since the descent back to Savognin is particularly attractive. The tour is one of the classic routes in Oberhalbstein.
From Savognin, you follow the river Julia in direction of Cunter and climb to Salouf at the industrial site of Gravas, and continue further over a well-constructed gravel road to Alp Munter. From here, the forest path gets steep and rough. The 500 metres of altitude constitute a hard climb to earn until reaching the Ziteil Chapel, the highest place of pilgrimage in Europe. The ensuing descent is technically demanding and rough, but can be doable for trained bikers. The singletrail leads to Alp Cre digl Lai, whereupon it heads right onto the next singletrail. You will finally reach the Alp Lungatigia by a rough cart road, and from here follow the trail to Riom. The way along the river Julia ultimately goes back to Savognin.
